365 days and still newly weds

I cant even begin to believe I've been MRS.HALL for a YEAR now! We had been talking about what to do to celebrate the first of many many anniversaries and then we got a call from my sweet Nana who was planning a surprise 70th birthday party for my Pappy so we decided on a quick trip to Atlanta and then down to the peach farm to prepare for the party!

A night at the Ritz Carlton
It was so beautiful!
Danny and Beth told us about Hal's...an amazing steak house that we had to try!
It was deeelish! Wes had the biggest steak I've ever seen and I had the filet with white truffle mac and cheese! AHH! We recommend!

We woke up and headed straight for the aquarium! I haven't been  since its first year and Wes had never been. I want a fish tank at home (hello...low maintenance pet!) but this is as close as I'll get!

After Pap's party we headed back home to dig into our year old cake and wine brought back from our honeymoon! It was actually really good!
Excited and blessed to celebrate with Mr.Wes.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Spicy Chicken-Corn Chowder
  • 8 slices of bacn, chopped
  • 1lb skinless, boneless chicken breast, cut in bite size pieces
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped red sweet pepper
  • 1 cup sweet onion
  • 1 to 2 fresh jalapeno peppers. finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 6 cups reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 large yukon gold potatoes, chopped
  • 2 cups fresh sweet corn kernels
  • 1 1/2 cups whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  1. In a 5 to 6 quart dutch oven cook bacon unitl crisp. Remove with spoon; set aside. Reserve 1 tablespoon drippings in the pan.
  2. Add chicken to pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper. Stir over medium high heat until chicken is no longer pink; remove. Add sweet pepper and onion to pan. Cook and stir until tender. Add jalapenos and garlic; cook and stir 3 minutes. Stir in flour. Cook and stir 1 minute. Add broth and potatoes. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cook uncovered, 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender; stirring occasionally. Stir in chicken, corn, cream, cayenne, and bay leaves. Simmer, uncovered 15 minutes; stir occasionally. Jazz Fest 2011

Our most recent adeventure was to visit my soul sister Maryam and attend Jazz Festival 2011 with our travel companions, Danny and Beth. Wes and i decided to try Amtrack instead of flying or driving...little did we know that the 13 hour planned trip turned into a tornado dodging TWENTY hour journey. it was devestating to see the damage and terribly scary to be about five minutes ahead of this deadly tornado. God definitely had his hand on us that day.

Our first day was to site see before the musical festivites. Michael was an amazing tourguide. We had the pleasure of meeting and having lunch  with Mr. and Mrs.Klahs. AMAZING food and 25cent martinis! SCORE! We tried turtle soup (sorry squirt), the most amazing bread pudding but most importantly had the best company and a lunch full of laughter.

Crawfis, crawfish and more crawfish.
